 Using a Digital Camera with Memory Card

 


NOTE: to use this set of instructions, you must be using a black Dell computer (when doing it from our school).

1.   Turn the camera on.

2.   Find the black cable labeled "Camera 20_." Plug the small end of the cable into the camera. You will plug it into a port located under a flap located on the side of the camera. The flap is labeled A/V Out.

3.  Plug the other end of the cable into the computer's USB port. This is located behind the gray Dell door located on the base of your computer.

4.  A box will appear on your screen that looks like this:

If you want to print pictures, choose that option and follow the prompts on the screen.

5.  Make sure the first option is selected ("Copy pictures..."). Click on okay.

6.  The Scanner and Camera Wizard will open up. It should look like this:

7.  Click on "Next." The next screen will show you the pictures that are currently stored on your memory card. If you want to copy all of the pictures, click on "Next." If you do not want to copy all of the pictures, you can deselect pictures by clicking on the check-marked box on the corner of each picture.

8.  Now you need to decide where your pictures will be saved. The screen will look like this:

9.  Type in a name for your group of pictures. Now you will determine where the pictures will be saved. Click on the "Browse" button. You will see a screen that looks like this:

10.  Now you will save the pictures to your locker. Click on "My Computer" and then click on your locker. If you would like to put your pictures in a new folder, click on "Make New Folder." Your screen should look like this:

11.  Before you click "Next", you may want to select the box "Delete pictures from my device after copying them." This will take the pictures off of the memory card so you do not have to do it manually and the card can be reused.

12.  Click on "Next." The pictures will be copied into the designated folder. When it is done, click on "Next" and then "Done." You will now be able to access your pictures from your locker.
