We will educate
and support our children Ø We believe all students can learn and will learn best when they are challenged in a safe, structured, well-defined learning environment. Ø We believe students, school, family, and community must work closely together as partners for the educational process to be a success. Ø We believe the need for collaborative and reflective time among teachers is an essential ingredient of instruction. Ø We believe a quality instructional program should include basic fundamental principles, while realizing each student is unique. Ø We believe that instruction should include the use of innovative technology, which will meet the need of students for future success. Ø We believe the curriculum should include appropriate teaching materials that will enable every child to develop academically, physically and emotionally to live successfully within a democratic society. Ø We believe clearly stated expectations and a consistent discipline plan are conducive to learning and result in increased student performance and achievement. We hope that the 2007-2008 school year at Highland Park Elementary will be one of positive and meaningful learning experiences for your child. We believe that parents, teachers, and children have a shared responsibility for the learning that takes place. We strive to develop a partnership, which will strengthen this process. Every parent can help her/his child to succeed in school! To do this:
Thank you for sharing your child with us. Please feel free to contact any of your child’s teachers or myself with questions, concerns or great new ideas. We very much appreciate your involvement with our school. Jan Williamson, Principal Highland Park Elementary
